The colours you choose to feature in your office can really impact your staff, clients and visitors, often through subliminal reactions and instinctive emotions.

Blue:

Calming and reassuring, Blue promotes clear thinking. Best used in general work areas to encourage productivity, teamwork and concentration. Too much blue can take away a sense of urgency and have a negative effect on productivity, so counteract this by teaming with bursts of orange.

Green:

Rejuvenating and calming, Green is associated with relaxation and nature. Best used in high-pressure work areas to balance stress levels and maintain a calm and efficient approach. Again, too much green can reduce productivity so team with a bright colour such as red to add a touch of stimulation.

Red:

Promotes energy flow, excitement and productivity. Great to use in areas where physical work takes place as it increases the heart rate and boosts performance. Balance with some blue or green to prevent any feelings of aggression or anger.

Yellow:

Cheerful, happy and fun, yellow can increase energy flow and memory retention. Perfect for training or learning areas where staff need to retain knowledge. Yellow also boosts creativity making it great for design agencies. Too much yellow can make some people feel stressed or anxious so pair with blue or green to create the right mix of energy and calm.

Orange:

Use to increase energy flow, stimulation and productivity. Orange encourages socialising and provides a welcoming vibe – great for reception areas.

Colour is also a great way to reinforce your company’s branding and identity. The colour you choose should also depend on the type of business you run. For example, accountants, lawyers, bankers and financial advisors often opt for natural colours mixed with wood finishes to project a dignified and sophisticated image. Whereas a design agency, call centre or marketing company will want to appear creative and vibrant.

When planning your office fit-out, Modern Office will take into account your branding identity and industry and suggest colours to best suit.

Often it’s not always practical or feasible to go and change the colour of your whole office, but there are ways of easily adding colour injections throughout your space. For example, consider desk partitions, free standing partitions, or coloured soft seating, chairs, desks or tables.
